Two free checks on where your club stands
Short self-assessments, answered in your browser and scored instantly, with every finding cited to the Football Governance Act 2025 or the IFR's published rules. No email address and no sign-up.
The two checks
IFR readiness check
Fourteen questions across ten areas of the licensing framework: the financial plan, ownership transparency, owners and officers, governance, fan consultation, notification duties and more. You get a per-area position, ranked by how urgently each area bears on a provisional licence application, with next steps for each.
Ownership and control check
Do you know who owns and runs your club? Nine questions against the Act's owner definition in Schedule 1 and the owners and officers regime that has been live since 5 May 2026: the 25% conditions, chains and nominees, suitability, the personnel statement and the notification duties.
How you are marked
Every area you answer comes back with one of three verdicts, each cited to the Act or the IFR's rules.
- In place Nothing to do beyond keeping the position evidenced. There is no card for doing it right.
- Yellow card Partly there. It will not stop you today, and it is the kind of thing that becomes a problem the week before a deadline.
- Red card A clear gap against the regime. Start here.
What these checks are, honestly
Each check is an indicative self-assessment against the licensing framework, scored from your own answers. It is not a review of your documents, and it is not legal advice. It cannot see your share register or your board minutes; it can only tell you where your answers suggest the work is.
Your answers are scored in your browser and never sent to us. There is no email gate: the results appear on the page, and you can print them for the board. Under the results there is an optional form for asking us to follow up; use it or ignore it. If you want a position someone has actually verified against your documents, that is the readiness assessment.

If you ask for a follow-up, we collect what you type into the form: your name, email address, club or company, a phone number if you give one, and a one-line summary of your results. We use those details to follow up with you, and for nothing else; we do not pass them to anyone. If you want them removed, ask via the contact page and we will delete them.
